An ISO certification is valid for three years after it has been granted to an organization.
An annual surveillance audit is still required following the ISO certification audit. If it is found that the organization did not carry out the surveillance audit or maintain its policies during this time, the certificate is suspended.
hence the surveillance audit must be performed annually.
The certifying bodies carry out surveillance audits. A re-certification audit is undertaken at the conclusion of the certification term, which is the end of the third year, and it lasts for an additional three years.
