Accreditation Body
Through surveillance, the accreditation body contributes to the upkeep and assurance of the validity of the certification system. Additionally, we ought to audit and confirm that the certification body is run properly and appropriately in accordance with IAF regulations and international standards (ISO/IEC Guide 62). The audit of authorized organizations is not done by accreditation agencies directly.
• The main goal of accreditation bodies, which are established in many nations, is to guarantee that certification bodies are under the control of an authoritative authority.
• Its main duty is to evaluate conformity assessment bodies—organizations that offer certification, testing, inspection, and calibration services—against globally accepted standards. Accreditation proves these organizations' proficiency, objectivity, and performance potential.
• Accreditation organizations typically function as nonprofit distribution companies.
Certification Body
A Certification body is a company that performs audits and provides evidence of whether the supplier's entire organization or a particular department has a management system that complies with specific requirements (ISO 9001) and is being implemented in line with those requirements. In order to prove compliance with international standards and offer audit services, certification bodies must seek accreditation (designation) from accrediting authorities and go through audits.
• A company that offers services for conformity assessment such as certification, testing, calibration, inspection, and others may apply for accreditation.
• A recognised organisation has proven that it completely complies with all applicable national and international standards.
